Interior Design Process

The Design is developed to create a consistent language of detail that may feature and
honor the historic and iconic elements of the space while responding to the client’s goals for a more
contemporary environment. Scale and dimension is studied in plan and elevation. Sophisticated material
applications, together with a clear focus of message, establish each of Shelley Starr’s signature interiors.

Construction Documents

Once the overall design concept for the project has been approved, Shelley Starr and her team prepare
the necessary perspectives, elevations and plans that convey the design intent. Construction Documents
are developed and incorporated into the Drawing Set that is submitted for permit approval and is used
to bid construction estimates and build the project. Drawings include Custom Millwork and Cabinetry
Plans, Lighting Concept Plans, Reflected Ceiling Plans, Electrical, Audiovisual and Data Plans. The
Construction Documents also include the Specifications Schedule that detail all selections in terms of
materials and finishes, plumbing, lighting, hardware and appliance schedules and paint and specialty
wall finish schedules.

Construction Administration + Project Management

Shelley Starr serves as the Client’s Advocate throughout the construction process, assembles and
manages the entire Team that will be responsible for the design, technical and construction aspects of
the project. The firm acts as the liaison between the Architect and the Contractor, coordinates specialty
Sub-Contractors, Craftsmen and Service Consultants outside of the GC’s scope and represents the Client
at the Construction Site and to Manufacturers and Suppliers.
